How Copycat works
Age, where you are, what you like, a price you can actually live with. Two minutes, not a credit check.
Fully refundable, less a £50 administration charge. We only hunt once you're serious — that's why the finds are good.
Not forty tabs. One or two cars that fit. You choose. We don't pile on the pressure.
Typical finds
Sample motors in the £1,000–£3,500 pocket. Exact cars change — this is the kind of thing we actually hunt.
from £1,895
Tiny, cute, cheap to run. The one everyone spots from across campus.
from £2,650
from £1,295
The starter that actually starts. Tiny engine, tiny bills, big grin.
from £2,195
The one dad votes for. Solid, easy to live with, still a bit of swagger.
from £3,150
Small but a bit posher. Stretch the budget, still in the £3,500 cap.
The 10%
Depending on the vehicle purchase price, you put down a fully refundable 10% — less a £50 administration charge if it comes back. We then find you one or two options to choose from. No thirty-car spreadsheets. No “just pop in on Saturday”.
Live hold
£200
That's 10% of £2,000. Fully refundable, less £50 admin — so £150 comes back if you walk away.
For the people paying the insurance
City cars and superminis in the £1,000–£3,500 band. Insurance-friendly first, Instagram second.
10% of the budget, fully refundable less £50 admin. Serious enough to mean it, fair enough to walk away.
Learners can copy mum or dad in. We'd rather a calm kitchen-table yes than a surprise on the drive.
Find a car
Who you are, what you like, what you can spend. We'll come back with one or two proper options — not a newsletter.
01 You
02 The car
03 Budget
Once we take you on, you put down 10% of the purchase budget. That hold is fully refundable, less a £50 administration charge. On a £2,000 car that's £200 down — £150 back if you decide not to go ahead.
We send one or two options, not a pile of listings. If neither feels right, say so. The hold comes back minus the £50 admin. No dealer-lot guilt trip.
That's the brief. We stick to small, economical cars in the £1,000–£3,500 band, cheap-ish to insure, and we can copy them in on the emails.
No. Copycat Motors is a finding service. We do the looking, the filtering, the “is this actually a good first car” bit — then you buy the one that fits.
Yes. Learners from 17, people at college or uni, anyone after a first or second car who wants help instead of scrolling Autotrader at 1am.
